jardin el harti

i wondered out of the medina today and into the newer part of the city. found a pretty nice park with a cactus garden. had a good conversation with a pair of guys at the park. with all the warnings about scammers i'm really hesitant to talk to anyone. since i was in a park, i felt it might be okay to stop for a moment. turns out one of them is an english teacher at a high school. he knew about the two washingtons and that the washington i'm in has many trees.

continued on and found a cemetary. seems to be a theme for this trip, so i got a bit excited when i found it. not knowing what the culture is about cemetaries and dead people in morocco, i felt really nervous walking around with people working or hanging out in the shade. for the most part the cemetary was well kept. it had dried grass, weeds every where. the burial site/tomb stone seem to be placed anywhere there is room. a few of the newer tomb stones do seem kept with some plants growing from the top of the stone. so i did take a couple quick pictures and hurried myself out. maybe i'll ask the hostel people about pictures and dead people. if they say no-no, i'll have to delete those pictures.
